Just a little update....

Yesterday was my first Ash Wednesday!!! Shortly after my husband and I married he converted to Catholicism and I did not. I made the decision this past summer to convert so I have been attending RCIA classes every Tuesday. I was allowed to participate in Ash Wednesday and tomorrow evening my husband and I are going to do the Stations of the Cross. This is all new to me so I am learning. I didn't realize how much it would mean to me to wear the ashes I am looking forward to my confirmation and eucharists. Not to sure about the confession part, but I will get to do that in a few weeks. I have a small project I have been working on. I think I needed a quick finish.

Went Shopping....

Today I went to my local needlework shop and made a few purchases. Most of my purchases were Gloriana Threads which will be arrive in a few weeks. I have a special project I am working on which requires these beautiful threads. I can't wait to get them so I can start stitching on my project. We also stopped by Best Buy, Barnes & Nobel and had lunch at LaMadeline. I finished my day off with getting my hair done. My roots are gone, my roots are gone WOOOOOHOOOO!

Actual Stitching

Yes in between all of the snow there has been

actual stitching that has taken place here.

I knitted Lance a hat and pair of gloves.

Just in time I might add.

I love this yarn it is by Green Mountain Spinnery

in Mountain Mohair the pattern is actually

from their book aptly named Green Mountain Spinnery Book

and can be viewed here

Anyway I always stop at their booth when visiting

the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival

which is always the first weekend in May.

I have also worked some more on my Long Dog Sampler

which is Bears the saying at the top is

"Do and Undo the Day is Long Enough"

I am happy to report I have finished the top half and

I am now ready to move to the bottom half

I am using Edinburgh Cream for the Fabric

and Gloriana Threads in Cranberry.

I am beginning to think I have been transported from

Northern Virginia to Alaska.

The Saga Continues.....

Here are some photos from yesterday.

I did get some stitching done so I will add those later today.

Craig was able to clear the front steps.

It is amazing how much snow we actually got.

Chanel decided to help him out.

Her idea of helping out was eating as much snow

as she could possibly consume. Which resulted in a

lot of yellow snow in our backyard area.

Lance enjoyed being out and playing with his friends

down the street who had built ice forts. Here he

was trying to "walk" thru our yard.

Snow, Snow and more Snow

Our snow began yesterday afternoon and looked like this around 3:00

This morning I woke up to this.

This is the back door. This is not ground level this is at

the top of five steps which leads to our patio

in the back, which was full of this.

and out front...

Please pretend you do not still see my icicle lights,

which we have not had an opportunity to take down because

we keep getting blasted with snow.

Later in the morning my husband and older son

ventured out to continue to tackle the every ending

driveway shoveling. My husband kept going out last night

along with one of the boys in order to not have to start fresh

with 26" of snow on the ground.

Yes, I realize he is in a light jacket and yes

I insisted he put on his winter coat and was repeatedly

informed of how hot his coat made him feel.

I gave up....

Here is William following in his fathers foot steps.

He too would not wear a coat same excuse.

Now keep in mind both of them are 6' 3" so the photo does

give you an indication of the amount of shoveling they did.

While they were shoveling I was inside making them this.

and a whole lot of this

and voila - a breakfast fit for champions who have shoveled

more snow than they ever want to see again.

Later in the morning Lance and I ventured out to take some

more photos and to let him finally play in the snow.

Because of course I am the worstest mother

in the whole wide world for making him wait.

Do I get an award for that??? Just saying

You can see in the smile on his face he feels

like he just climbed Mt. Everest.

Who am I to shatter his dream and remind him

it is just the pile of snow at the end of our driveway.

We continued on up the hill and he continued to climb up

various mountains of snow until he got stuck and

I had to perform my save and rescue.

Still didn't stop him

he still continued to climb the mountains of snow.

I love the way the snow looks on the trees.

It's back......

A real quick post to share the snow with everyone again.....

The above photo is of our back yard. Looks like we got about 6 inches. Below is out our front door first thing this morning before anyone else was up. Except for John who I heard yell "Yes, no school today!!!"
